“GO for Catholic Schools”- 2013 Success!

In 2011, the Oklahoma Legislature passed the Oklahoma Equal Education Opportunity Act (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/27/us-oklahoma-private-schools-idUSTRE73Q03920110427) allowing for the setup of a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) that would assist families in affording a private education for their children.  In the Diocese of Tulsa, we jumped at the opportunity!  With a small band of committed volunteers we raised $60,000 in 2012 that went directly to families in Catholic schools in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bartlesville, and Muskogee.  $12,000 of that went to families at Bishop Kelley High School.

The good news is that in 2013 we quadrupled our efforts and raised $260,000.  This happened because of those same committed volunteers and the help of 130 generous donors.  What these 130 individuals know (I’m one of them so can speak from experience) is that a contribution to “GO” not only results in helping families afford a Catholic education, and a tax deduction but also a TAX CREDIT.  On their 2013 taxes, these 130 donors will see their gift to “GO” going further than any other donation they made this year.

For 2014 we are aiming higher. “GO for Catholic Schools” is open for business and ready to accept your gift to aid our efforts.  It will benefit you and kids in three ways:

1)      You’ll be helping kids go to Catholic schools in the Diocese of Tulsa.

2)      You’ll be getting a tax deduction for your gift.

3)      You’ll be a getting a tax credit on your 2014 taxesImage
